Short Course Speaker

The conference will open with a short course “Statistical modelling with missing data: challenges and practical solutions” given by James Carpenter (London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine) on July 7th. A brief summary of the course is given here

Welcome Reception

The Welcome Reception will take place on Monday (18h30-20h30) in the Archaeological Museum of Martins Sarmento Society.


For the excursion, which will take place on Wednesday afternoon, you can choose between the following two options:

Citywalk Tour:  Visit one of the most beautiful and historical cities of Portugal, Guimarães – the cradle of Portugal. This will include: visit to the Castle of Guimarães; Palace of the Dukes of Bragança; the historic city center of Guimarães classified as World Heritage by UNESCO; Penha hill – the highest point in Guimarães.

Visit to Braga*: Braga is one of the oldest cities of Portugal known for its baroque churches, magnificent 18th century houses and elaborate gardens and squares. It was located on one of the main Roman roads in the Iberian Peninsula and was known, in the Roman era as “Bracara Augusta”. Besides the historic city centre of Braga we will visit Bom Jesus and Sameiro where you will find one of the most beautiful and spiritually uplifting places in the world

Conference Dinner

The Conference Dinner will take place on Thursday evening.
